1 Peter 5:8-9 (New International Version)
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

When you are alone, and the imaginings of terror come creeping in on your mind that is when the Devil is close to you. If you are to resist Him, you must be clad in all of the Spiritual armor you can muster. particularly the Word of God.
Scripture may come easily to mind but know this. The Devil probably can recite Scripture better than you. He may know the Words, but you must know the heart of what is being said. (Luke 4 9-12)
Know through all of the smoke and noise in the midst of your darkness that Jesus is the only true light and beloved son of the most high God.
