Ephesians 6: 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood-

It probably took an awful lot to amaze Jesus, but amazed He was at the faith of the Roman Centurion. (Matthew 8:5-13 – Worth the read) Jesus had recently finished explaining to the 12 that love for enemies was a critical part of His message to the world. Here, in the person of the Roman Centurion was the very embodiment of the “enemy of Israel”. The apostle Paul would later express that same thought in the partial text above.
It is perfectly natural in our fallen state to presume our enemies are those who oppose us and block our way particularly if our lives are daily exposed to the kind of ridicule Christians of outspoken faith experience from virtually every quarter. The one thing Paul would have us understand is that these embodiments, these people, are as beloved of God as we are, and that the final judgement will be the moment that calls all to account.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
More to come…
