Genesis 19:10 But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.

Lot’s dilemma. Lot and his family had gravitated away from the agrarian lifestyle in favo of an urban existence. They enjoyed the connections, they enjoyed the cosmopolitan atmosphere and were willin to overlook the perversion and disgusting lust for those perverted ends all around them. True to form in their day their women were regarded as chattel, a commodity to be brokered away at any convenient moment. How like Lot we are. For all our so called modern “sensibilities” we stay in the midst of the incomprehensible corruption all around us.

Our Lord, Jesus, walked through it all and was able to keep walking on even though the corruption of culture was inescapable, He remained pure and without sin. Anger, Jealousy, greed, avarice, murderous intent, rape were all around Him as He walked through the cesspool that was Rome, Yet He was never deterred. Oh; Let it be so for me.
