Psalm 68:4-5Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name Yah, And rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.

Riots in the cities, inflation plaguing the entire world, Nations at war, bizarre weather phenomena, what on earth is happening? AS we near this Father’s day, I wanted to stop and ask the question whether it is not possible that the dissolution of the family in favor of the lust of the moment and the headlong rush to embrace every new and frankly weird idea about who we are and how we got here might just have something to do with the sorry state of affairs on this world. What do you think?

I have had the sad duty over my years of pastoral ministry to help families trying to pick up the pieces after infidelity, abandonment, and divorce. Although I was not really very good at it, especially when the same things came flooding into my own family, I recognize that only Jesus can really make a difference in the lives of people who have made terrible and destructive choices effecting the lives of spouses and children.
This Father’s Day, I am asking all fathers that may read this or be told about it to think once again of the precious gift of family and do everything within your power to call upon the Name of Jesus to heal and restore the brokenness in your own homes.
