Ephesians 6: 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
Readiness. The word conjures up the fire and emergency training I underwent several years ago. Not that I was constantly deployed in some emergency, but rather that I was prepared to be deployed. Bunker suits and hip boots, ready to go at a moment’s notice whenever the call came out. For Christians the gospel of peace should not be something that we have to think about and debate internally every time we are put to the test. We should be ready, prepared in every situation for the questions that inevitably arise. Whether these questions come out of sincerity or hostility we should have the ability to contextualize the answer that points to our gracious and loving Lord no matter what.
