No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
How have you learned to overcome temptation? Some overcome by distraction. Some overcome by avoidance. Still others may overcome through rigid discipline. But have you ever tried simply praying in the midst of the most tempting moments? Whatever technique you consciously or unconsciously use when that technique or approach is enhanced through pray you bring every power of heaven to bear upon the problem.
Think of it as having your own cheering section and sideline coach all willing and straining for you to succeed. Doubt crippled the pair in the garden. Failing to trust God and perhaps a large dose of serpent inspired megalomania played into their accursed decision. Whatever reasoning or excuse you may want to apply here the simple fact is they failed to talk to God and listened to the liar.
Next time you are tempted to stray from the way you know you should go try thinking about it and discuss it with God. You won’t be disappointed.
