Hebrews 6:10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

For this reason… The cross of Jesus Christ is the symbol of so many important virtues to be remembered, inculcated, ingrained, to be come part of the very fabric of our identities as we struggle to learn the lessons of perseverance. It seems so easy to fall away. It becomes almost as if a powerful gravity is seeking to hold us down as we desire more and more to “soar on wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31)

After the stinging rebuke and warning of the preceding verses we have these blessed words and encouragements to lean on in our breathless fear of the living God. He is just. He is holy. He loves us because we are His and He made us. Let us continue to help one another, even when it is with a warning or a restraining hand. Let us encourage each other to  press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of…(Philippians 3:12) us.
