Colossians 4:5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

Teetering on the edge of the abyss the prophets of old went out to follow the instructions of the Lord their God. Elijah with his high flying challenge to the priests of Baal, Jeremiah with his bizarre antics before the walls of the city all were times of great risk and radical change. Today, the call of God is no less challenging. We are called to bring hope to a world that would substitute momentary relief from anxiety for eternal fulfillment. The stakes are very great. There is a tendency to think, even say I’ve got min, you get yours it’s not my problem. This plays out every day that we do not “make the most of every opportunity”.
Every day when we go out of our door or pick up the phone, compose a text or e-mail there is an opportunity to communicate to love and hope we know. To someone who may desperately need to hear just that message. Don’t be like the young hunter in the picture above. His appetite demanded that he satisfy himself right at the moment of his opportunity.
