Philippians 4:Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is [c]lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

I’m constantly saddened and moved by the number of people I see who are anxious, frightened and panic driven in the part of the world I live in. I know that the situation is far worse elsewhere as I live in what is frequently called “flyover country” referring to an area where the thoughts of people are considered to be irrelevant to the national norm. But this anxious condition is everywhere on the planet because people by and large feel as though they are alone in the universe and have to figure out everything for themselves.

Fortunately, this is not so. If folks would take a moment to reflect, to listen, to understand the gift of God in Christ they would know this peace, they would find relief for their anxiety, and ultimately, they would be spared the consequences of the final expression of that anxiety which is that old parasite emotion, anger. Think of it. If more people knew Jesus the man, Jesus the sacrifice, Jesus the conquering king and Jesus the eternal intercessor what peace would reign in our hearts and minds.
