
Job 2:13 Then they sat down on the ground with Him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.

Almost everyone I know has spent days and nights in great pain. Praying at those times will sometimes bring a modicum of relief, but more often than not our self-willed and selfish prayers seem to fail to reach God’s ears.
Job’s erstwhile friends found nothing to say. Perhaps they were meditating on the different ways to accuse Job and “explain” to him how he had failed God.
Perhaps when great pain or anguish settle into our lives we might, if able, recall the goodness of God, and give thanks. Then we might consider how we might intercede on behalf of someone whose troubles far,exceed our own .
