Isaiah 48 “Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob,
you who are called by the name of Israel
and come from the line of Judah,
you who take oaths in the name of the Lord
and invoke the God of Israel—
but not in truth or righteousness—
2 you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city
and claim to rely on the God of Israel—
the Lord Almighty is his name:
3 I foretold the former things long ago,
my mouth announced them and I made them known;
then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.
4 For I knew how stubborn you were;
your neck muscles were iron,
your forehead was bronze.
5 Therefore I told you these things long ago;
before they happened I announced them to you

Remembering comes hard for many people. Many forget what happened in their lives almost as events occur. Certainly many people remember the last few moments, but many will conveniently forget the watershed moments in their lives. Here, God is calling the Israelites to recall what the prophets have foretold, the warnings of the Patriarchs and the common sense instilled in the hearts of the righteous. Many would have been left scratching their heads trying to understand and recall just exactly what they should have learned as children.
There is always a remnant who recall the grace of God and His mercy and righteousness. The message is to those who seemingly have forgotten or perhaps never knew It is not too late to look to God through His Son, Jesus and find the mercy, grace and forgiveness you may be seeking. Isaiah was trying to turn the heart of the nation for he had seen the coming disaster of Jewish captivity and the fall of the nation. Modern day prophets don’t have to look very far to see the coming destruction promised in the Gospels. Today can be your day of decision. You are loved.
