1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body. (NASB)

Although only a few of the types of substances through which addiction gains control of our bodies there are many others. Here in Missouri, we are going to the polls this November to decide whether or not the time has come to approve the recreational use of Marijuana. There will no doubt be very little hue and cry from the people because after all this is somebody else’s problem. Right?

The hope of holiness churches everywhere is that through the Holy Spirit of Jesus our Christ we might be delivered from the sin which leads to these sorts of addictive behaviors. Just as Paul reiterated many times that the true followers have been “set free from the law of sin and death”, (Romans 8:2) we must in all things find in Him the strength and will to live above merely obeying the law. We are called to be a light to this darkened world. Jesus, Help me!
