Galatians 5:4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” 10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view.

We never know from one day to the next what we will encounter or the ideas that inform some of the reactions people have toward us. We can only be consistently vigilant within ourselves to look always to Jesus to be our mentor and guide through the wastelands of this life. We may encounter every level of humanity in the course of our days. Pride, vanity, greed, hostility, deep seated need, destructive addictions and various forms of psychoses. We will also be challenged by deceivers and manipulators and every manner of potential enemy or potential fellow believer. It is this last that we must always pray after and hope for. If by our life of Christ’s light and love, we may point the way to the throne, we may just succeed where all of the wrestling and fighting have failed.
