2 Chronicles 32:  “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed before the king of Assyria and all the horde that is with him, for there are more with us than with him.8 With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people took confidence from the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. (ESV)

Christian believers must never forget that we live on the razor’s edge between two worlds. That most of us can not discern that fact by experience, yet we know by faith that this is true. To trust in the protection of the Lord even if that means that we pass from one plane of existence to the next is difficult. God does give us some assurances throughout the scripture from which we should garner much hope. He also informs us through those same scriptures that there are other beings that occupy the spirit world that are fighting on His side and that ultimately the victory in this centuries long war is never on doubt. Through our trust and faith although we might appear as a loss in the win loss column of the war, the ones who are proclaiming our loss are the real losers in this conflict.

We pray for those who “persecute” us (Matthew 5:44). Read once again the full Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) this scripture is there to give us that battle plan for ultimate victory. Yes, the strategies seem counter intuitive, but lived out faithfully they will lead us to the ultimate victory, life eternal in the presence of our loving Savior.
