Isaiah 24: the earth is violently shaken.
20 The earth reels like a drunkard,
it sways like a hut in the wind;
so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion
that it falls—never to rise again.

We’ve become quite adept at ignoring the problems on our doorstep. We are past masters at combating symptoms while not effecting cures. Socially, medically, and in every other way we avoid the hard work of righteousness. Now before you slam on the brakes, consider this. Jesus saves us from the condemnation for our sins. In Him we are new creatures. (2 Corinthians 5:17) What you may not have considered, without a willing lifestyle change all of the forgiveness in the world will not prevent you from falling back into that same profligate lifestyle. (Romans 12:2) Sadly, we church folk have settled for way too long for some sort of “one and done” approach to faith and spirituality and the result is a plethora of churches and denominations that live life like a river, a “mile wide and, and an inch deep.”
The result of this shallowness is the same sort of hysterical response that we see every time some bizarre aberration of behavior forces its way onto the public consciousness. (vis the recent spate of “mass” shootings) A new law never helps, because we never appropriate the resources to enforce those laws.
In the same way the law of God which by all logic should become an intrinsic part of our lives (Psalm 119:11) we have continually set aside for the sake of some “more convenient” interpretation.
Pray today for a revival of the Spirit.
