Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

As I sat on my porch enjoying the day I heard the plaintive cry of the mourning dove. This was in great contrast to the melodic singing of a mocking bird in a nearby tree. As I listened I was impressed in my spirit about how much of modern Christian music and thought is taken up with the misery of reflecting on the harm done to us in the past. How sad. Unlike the mourning dove we are given a new hope and a reason to shout with joy. I say this today even though I hurt with a physical pain beyond what I believe I can bear, yet I am filled with the knowledge that Jesus is with me and is watching over me and there is nothing I cannot withstand with His strength assisting me and lifting me up.

Because I don’t have to be

The old man inside of me

His day is long dead and gone

            I am redeemed!
