Psalm 74: 18 Remember how the enemy has mocked you, Lord,
    how foolish people have reviled your name.
19 Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts;
    do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever.

            If ever there was an appropriate prayer for a people in crisis this is it. With Pentecost approaching and all the noise coming as a consequence of the recent school shooting in Uvalde Texas there is a deep, beyond imagining, and undeniably critical need for repentance and clarity of thinking. To ban one weapon will accomplish little. The Israelites were under a total metals embargo by the Philistines, (that means no tools, no utensils, no weapons of any kind) and yet Samson the judge was able to accomplish the killing of 1000 of them with the jawbone of an ass. (Judges 15:15)

            Truly, whatever the politicians may do the whole nation and everywhere the idea flows needs to be down on its face before God repenting of our callousness, our tendency to violence, and our utter lack of true agape love.
