James 1: 13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Sin becomes the “elephant in the room” (you can’t fail to notice it) as is so eloquently demonstrated every day in the lives of the rich and famous. Sadly, many people so admire the antics of these profligate fools that they end up in their own tawdry way following the example set for them by the completely over the top exposure of these so-called “lifestyles” found in any media source you could imagine.

Since we are already “bent” that way it is no wonder that apart from the teaching of other Christians whether in a formal setting or casual conversation the great majority of people settle for some watered down “sense” of goodness and fall deeper and deeper into the kind of sin they see all around them. Proverbs 29:18Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.

More to come…
