Hebrews 5: 11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

I never understood the laziness, or the unwillingness of so many Christians to grow and learn, to study Scripture , to step out in faith and to answer God’s call to deeper discipleship. The “contentment palaces” that we have called churches have done but little to further this deep need. Churches are busy with a particular agenda in most Cases following rather than Jesus commands, but answering the particular exigencies of a pastor;s particular vision, or a denomination mandate. Mostly these cannot really be faulted, but for many they are just left high and dry as far as developing what many have called “the interior life”.
As with most things in this world you will grow only as you overcome the inertia that so quickly occurs and face the reality of climbing the upward path, choosing the narrow way, and finding the reasoning for all you do in the scriptures.
