James 1:12Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. (NIV)

It seems at times that the plain drudgery of living in a world where every person seems to be pitted against you, and what you know in your heart to be true, becomes so overwhelming that you even begin to doubt yourself. There are two sides of every coin. In this instance, outright opposition and persecution, and the slow, inexorable and atmospheric, unrelenting opposition to the faith stand you have taken. Which is more difficult to withstand? Only you can answer that within yourself. With most if not all of academia, the entertainment industry, the legal “profession” and the long passage of time arrayed against Christian thought to persevere is daunting and at times frightening. Fortunately, very fortunately we are strengthened by the indwelling Holy Spirit and need not be afraid. In the words of Martin Luther, “The body they may kill, God’s truth abideth still” (A mighty Fortress is our God).
