Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.

11 Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.12 Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

David at the end of his life

The life of David is one of the most fascinating lives of the Old Testament. Here, in his final blessing and farewell to the nation he loved he found at the end of it all. Despite his many peccadilloes and sins, despite his bravery and cowardice, David chose to look at the last to his God and the true King. His son by Bathsheba, Solomon,  a child conceived in adultery,  would follow him but in the end the prosperity trap, the success of his God given wisdom would bring him to the sadly dissipated state to be seen in the book of Ecclesiastes.

As we begin this first full week of the Lenten season my question to you is when the end comes and you face the resurrected Christ will you be able to find yourself in agreement with David as he gave God all the credit, glory, and authority over his life?

Prayer thought for today: Safety and freedom for those at risk in Ukraine. For Church workers serving and witnessing in the midst of the crisis both inside and outside Ukraine. Blessing and supply for all of those both in Ukraine and Russia who are being “frozen out” by the military madness of Vladimir Putin. Wisdom and courage for the American and Nato leaders.
