John 13:34-35 (New International Version) “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

            Why would Jesus have given this command to his disciples? Do you suppose that there might be a problem with the image of Jesus they would have presented to the world without this admonition? It seems so simple, and so in keeping with what we know about Jesus to patiently explain what the evidences of His truth would be in a world so lost and given over to conflict.

              If there has been one command that has almost been universally disobeyed one needs only to look at the relationships between groups and individual Christians down through the centuries. When I think of all of the infighting just in my time as a pastor I am ashamed and know I need to seek His forgiveness.

              Pride of religion is a very dangerous and harmful condition. I know and affirm that except for the grace of my Lord Jesus I should be condemned, but the good news is found once again in the scriptures. Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
