Exodus 14:10 As Pharaoh approached, the sons of Israel looked, and behold, the Egyptians were coming after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord. (NASB)

It seems to me that there is today a veritable army of people who out of fear or out of memory of a “bad” experience or faulty education will do everything they can to impugn the truth of God and the people who earnestly try to follow and emulate the Savior Jesus Christ. Just as the Israelites reacted in fear to the approach of Pharoah’s army, so today many Christians cower in fear at the abuse heaped upon the Name of Jesus and His Church in the media, “entertainment” and the classroom. For these there is only one truth they need to understand. Jesus said it Himself when he announced to the women at the well near Sychar in Samaria, John 4: 23 But a time is coming, and even now has arrived, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

The invitation is clear, just as the promise was clear to the Israelites enslaved in Egypt. Exodus 12 23 For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; but when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to strike you.

The Lord is my strength and my shield, even unto death.
