Amos 5:14-15 (New International Version)

Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.

Sometimes it seems difficult, if not nearly impossible, the balance the seemingly competing demands of of justice, mercy, fairness, forgiveness, and a right mind toward what is good and what is patently evil. For the follower of Christ this is nearly impossible, imagine what it must be loke for those groping blindly in the moral darkness of the world with no indicators of direction or light. Secular justice is no justice at all. Wrong-headed, black hearted, grasping opportunists take over the courts at every opportunity, crime, that which is true crime goes unpunished, and a culture formerly built on the tenets of Biblical Truth (Read Jesus Christ) becomes the laughingstock of the entire world.

These words of Amos the prophet ring as true today as they did in a time when Israel had gone completely off the rails. To his credit, he found the courage to speak truth to a people gone mad with self-indulgence.
