Ephesians 4: 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

Sometimes it is the hardest thing to do to wait on the Lord’s good timing to “bring the kettle to the boil” in the life of someone you love. Parents of adolescents and young adults wait patiently (or not) for the Holy Spirit to awaken the souls of those who wander far away. Far too often we try to “scooch” things along and make something happen, usually with just the opposite effect. Remember, in the “hardening of hearts” business, the Lord has shown repeatedly as in His dealings with Pharoah (Exodus 1-20), and Nebuchadnezzar, and Belshazzar (Daniel 1-8), and even the Saul the king (1 Samuel) and Saul the Pharisee (Acts) and others that the very process can be to the salvation or destruction of the individual involved. Nevertheless, God is sovereign in these matters. We must needs continue to pray no matter how many times our loved ones betray us and our heavenly Father.
