Luke 1:76-78 (New International Version) And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven

If you are indeed a follower of Jesus, our Christ, then you are by extension a type of John the Baptist. We are sent ahead to prepare the way for the return of Jesus. To baptize the world in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. I think I can hear you backpedaling now. John the Baptist came, he preached, and he went, the hard way.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about the “advance men” for the great evangelists down through the years. Virginia Healey Asher, Billy Sunday, J Wilbur Chapman, Daniel Nash the advance man for Charles J. Finney, all of the lay preachers who served under John Wesley. They, and their leaders also came, preached, and many, many others went the hard way. Here’s a clue for you the “upward Way” is steep. These folks took up the charge of Jesus to the disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the holy Ghost.” (Matthew 28:19)
How about you? Are you traveling on the “upward Way”?
