Luke 1: 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

We live in lifestyles where we are constantly on the lookout for heroes and heroines. While I understand the protestant discomfort with the veneration of the virgin Mary we must come to grips with the fact that she was a type of pioneer in holiness. She agreed literally to the whole holiness concept of total consecration including what the old timers like to call the “unknown bundle”, that is the “whatever” that may happen in the future.
Think about it for just a moment. The intensity of our desire for total healing from the sin impulse, and the total trust in the Savior Jesus the Christ of God (through the power of His resurrection) to deliver us and “preserve (us) blameless” 1 Thessalonians 5:23) at his coming again.
To be worshipped? -No! Most emphatically. Mary herself would recoil at the notion.
To be honored? Yes! Absolutely. A true heroine of the Faith. An exemplar of God’s Holy Spirit at work in a person.
