2 Corinthians 12:10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Fragile and fleeting as a butterfly are the strengths of men. While the scripture usually uses the word weakness to refer to moral weakness with regard to the law, there is here, I believe Paul’s acknowledgement of his physical limitations. Athletic types will often tell you to “push through the pain”. Great advice in the moment, but the result is sometimes entry into a whole new world of pain.
Recognizing where we are on the continuum, strength on the one end, and weakness and inability on the other end with pain ramping up all along the way we need to stop at different points and acknowledge and thank Jesus for whatever strength we do have and to trust Him to help us in our physical as well as our emotional pain. Somehow, suddenly it doesn’t hurt so much.
