2 Timothy 3:16-17 (New International Version)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

In a world gone mad with the pursuit of youth and every new (and frankly weird) impulse the concept of generations has become something of an antiquated and quaint concept. The admonition to Timothy by the Apostle and mentor Paul carries a sort of grave warning. Forget the past at your peril.

What the Old testament has to say to a modern world is simply this. It’s all happened before! Learn from the past, see the similarities apply the truth from Jesus’ own words to the present circumstances. Remember, the scripture Paul is speaking of is in fact the Old Testament. Everything to be discovered in the New was written in the Old.

So my question to Christians today is just this. Why do we keep on trying to re-invent the wheel.
