Read the prophets as intelligently as possible in a translation that works for you. You will find, if you open yourself up to the Spirit of God that he will reveal this same truth to you quite clearly. Yes, I know you can get hung up on all of the place names and which king goes with which prophet and when. Don’t let that deter you from the richness of God’s love, grace and justice expressed so clearly in these words. There are nit hidden “gotchas”, there are no “booby traps”, there is only a clear concise expression of God’s determination to set apart for Himself a holy people.
Perhaps you need to find or discover that kind of clarity for yourself. Take the time, make the effort, humble yourself before the God who loves you.
