Joshua 513 Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” 14 He said, “No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the Lord.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down…”

A moment in history which if you look at it in a certain way tells the entire story of salvation, sanctification, and spiritual equipping for life. Joshua recognizes in the appearance of this “man standing opposite” him, opposed to his fleshly sin infested instincts, such as lust for power, vanity etc.. He assumes incorrectly from the outset that “the man” is probably an enemy, but might be made into an ally. When the man finally identifies himself Joshua immediately in his spirit,  repents of his arrogance, SALVATION, he falls to his knees in submission to the will of the Lord, SANCTIFICATION, , and in his bowing down, becomes “EQUIPPED” for the battles the lie ahead.  Amazing, the whole of the salvation drama in a few verses. How slow we are to understand.

Thank Jesus today for the great length He was willing to go to see you and I beside Him in the kingdom. Never forget the cross of Calvary, never forget the heartfelt prayer of the Garden.
