Hebrews 2: 2 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2 For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?

The devil’s art is in his ability to distract us from what is important. The writer to the Hebrews (spread throughout the Roman colonies) was warning the Christians among them to reflect on the great salvation they had received in Jesus Christ. They understood, perhaps as no other cultural group the consequences of sin and the judgement that waited.
It is easy to slide into a sort of spiritual “cruise control” and just let the days pass you by. This thinking is truly antithetical to the reality in which we live. In this obviously photoshopped image the fellow in the boat is oblivious to the immense disaster about to befall. So to are we if we continue to ignore, or at worst lessen our regard for the significance of Jesus’ love and sacrifice.
