Isaiah 48:17 This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.

Remember the old style accordion folded road maps? You’ve probably got one or two languishing in the door pocket of you car. Modern technology has put the toad map on our cell phones, or GPS devices and made it much more convenient, and it seems for many, much easier to lose their way.

Isaiah was writing to a people who had lost their way. They had stopped following the “road map” God had given them in the wilderness. I know many of the ladies out there are nodding their heads. Sometimes men in their obstinacy simply will not consult any resource or person to get back on track.

God spoke through the prophets and tried by every means possible to help the people of Israel and Judah to come to grips with the fact that they were lost. In the end he was left with no other recourse than to destroy them. How sad.

But, the saddest thing is that it’s really happening all over again. The Way of salvation is clear, but it seems many are leaving that way and wandering in the wilderness and fewer and fewer are finding the Way.

Perhaps it is time to once again, elevate the Word of God to its proper place in our lives. Take out the map and see where we need to go.
