Many people run around, and run off at the mouth trying to justify every aberrant behavior under the sun. News broadcasts and feeds are rife with that kind of nonsense. Do we really care who said what about whom, who took their clothes off in public, or who got caught with their hands in the cookie jar? The pretentions of a narcissistic generation notwithstanding the issue of sin does not change.
I came across a photo photo on a Facebook post the other day. I cannot post it here for technical reasons, but I suppose I can describe it just as well. It si a photo of a standard advisory road sign. THe words written on the sign are straight forward and to the point. If the bible calls it sin- My opinion doesn’t matter. My immediate reaction is; Yes. It’s true. And I take comfort in the solidity of this truth. However, some of you might be asking, “How does this apply to me?”
I think that question is best answered by a quote from Susanna Wesley mother of John Wesley : “Take this rule: whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off your relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over your mind, that thing is sin …
