1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Most of usrealize, if we truly seek after the Lord become aware very early on that just making a confession of Jesus and in our own efforts turning way from the sinful choices we have habitually made in our lives, that we need something more, some help, some deeper healing from our sin nature. This hunger for God’s holiness is like unto that soreness the precedes complete healing from an injury, or some kind of wound perhaps resulting from a surgical procedure. You may know and trust that the healing from this wounding will eventually be completed, but spiritually we will most likely never be truly healed until we cry out to God and offer up to him the sacrifice he demands, Ourselves, our daily living selves given over to His plans, His purpose, His service. (See Romans 12)
