Revelation 2:21And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

All prophecy in scripture is so crafted as to evoke a picture in the mind of the one who is listening or reading that expression from God. For example, when I read the passage above I am transported to a time in my life when I fished the once clear “live” water of many of the more famous trout streams in the Northeast US. I understand, the biology of the water, the physics, and the chemistry. It was my environment, and my study for many years.

When we read the scriptures, it is important to try to comprehend what the prophecy was saying to its original audience, and then to bring that thought process home to our own particular moment in time. If we were once able to do that with accuracy and honesty, perhaps there would be far fewer of the lunatic types who hang their hat on a particular phrase, or situation in the Bible and then extrapolate some bizarre point of view that they insist must be accepted followed without question.

Read the Bible for yourselves. Ask it questions. It is the most honest and consistent of books that you will ever find.
