Deuteronomy 1:35 ‘Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see that good land of which I [j]swore to give to your fathers,

We liv in a time when everyone does as he or she pleases. We have little regard for the righteous commands of God. In our hearts, far too many of us elevate the imagery and activity of the evil one though his servants and have romanticized the very “badness” of their characters. The ones who seek to be holy are mocked and lied about at every turn. Every perversion imaginable is brought out into the light of day and paraded about as it it was the most normal thing, and sadly the world, weary of all of it responds with a resounding; “So what?”
As I was thinking about this today I recalled in my mind the story of the end times, and what God has planned for those who love them. I remembered the allegory Pilgrim’s Progress (John Bunyan) and the portrayal of the “celestial city” and the fair land that awaited Pilgrim on his way home. To be shut out of that beautiful place of promise is a thought almost impossible to bear. Jesus told his disciples three times about the “outer darkness” (Matthew 8:12, 22:13, 25:30). I also thought about Augustine’s work the City of God.
It’s up to you whether or not you accept the offer of forgiveness for sins and, through repentance, the restoration of righteousness and the promise of Paradise with Jesus.
