Colossians 2:6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ.

One of the principal foundations of joyous faith in Christ is thankfulness. When you think about it even the very air you breathe is a gift from our heavenly Father. I once saw a movie where a character really could not grasp the whole concept of thanking God for anything because what ever he had he felt he had earned by his labor and his own wisdom. Nothing cold be further from the truth.
One of the most deceptive and hollow philosophies we accept today is the idea that were it not for our efforts and our abilities we would have nothing. Let’s back up here to the whole idea of the air we breathe. We don’t earn it, we don’t create it, we only use it. It is the same with resource and talent. God makes them available to you and I and we but take advantage of them.
I am humbled by the “great achievers” in our world such as doctors, nurses, police, and firemen. I am thrilled by talented musicians and actors, story tellers and artist who render in paint or sculpture the reflections of God given life. I thank God for all this and more.
