Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

The Wisdom of ears part two-

Simply put, the voice f God, even the name of Jesus strikes fear into the hearts of the enemies of God. At least, those with enough sense to know just who and what is speaking or being spoken of. In may countries even speaking the name of Jesus is considered a crime. Why should this be? Most of you have grown up in a time and a place where you have been, at least up to now had the freedom to speak anything that bubbles up out of your thinking. What is you lived in one of those places where that was not possible.

I’m reminded here of the old television “comedy” All in the family.  The main character would tell his wife to “Stifle yourself” when he didn’t want to listen to what she had to say. So it is in the larger world today, and sadly, that thought [process is coming into the Western world in ways that absolutely breach any concept of free speech or thinking.

Somehow, I can’t help thinking that Adam and Eve re[present the worst of humanity and at the same time the best hope for humanity. In the moment they realized they had sinned they hid from the face of God. They knew there would be consequences. I just don’t think they were capable of understanding how their choice would impact generations of their descendants. Perhaps, if they had listened more closely at the beginning it would be a far different word than we now live in.
