Hebrews 10: The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

I was out for a drive with my wife today and we were listening to a comtemproary Christian music station along the way. At one point a very talented female singer intoned something to the order of God keeping her safe from all harm. I have heard (and sung) many such lyrics over the years, but for some reason I was checked in my spirit wondering if somehow we, meaning the Christian community as a whole were not trying to sell the unreached a “bill of goods” which didn’t quite live up to what they were hearing.
Simply put, I believe, and this scripture among others support that belief, that 1.) We are not “safe” from all harm. 2.) When harm befalls us God may use the experience to toughen or even break us. 3.) Not even Jesus was immune from persecution and trouble. I believe that there is a “reality” that is far more real than this life we now live. It is powerful it is far reaching, and within that reality we shall be transformed into His glorious likeness.
