John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God

It could take a lifetime to unpack all of the truth and implications of this one verse from John’s Gospel. The beginning. From nothing, something. Theologically speaking creatio ex nihilo. Every argument against the existence of God falls flat on it’s face at this point. If it’s energy, or matter, whatever you could postulate, you assume “something”. The first verse of the Bible reads “In the beginning God…” Before God there was nothing. He spoke and everything that is, or ever will be was created. You were formed in His mind from the beginning of the world. Your place in time was fixed.
Who was this “Word” He is Jesus himself who took on human form to be the atonement for your sins and mine. He is with His Father eternally existent part of the Godhead, the Holy Trinity. Why would He do such a thing for people who have rejected him and worse yet have killed Him? One word. Love.
Further in God’s word John writes of Jesus as saying, (John 10: 30) “I and the Father are one.” That same oneness is what He seeks with you and I.
