and a season for every activity under the heavens:

I had lunch with a friend today and we were commiserating over the many changes in the church and ministry over the course of our lives. I realized something after we had parted. The church that Jesus is building is ever renewing itself. We have invested a lot of time and money, literature, and theory in the whole topic of church leadership over the years and guess what. Fads come and fads go. Jesus remains the same. To put it simply, love people as Jesus loved them and take your cues from his word.

When we approach the whole of church life in that manner we won’t have to worry about how to minister in our communities. We will just need to be present, to go out among the people and give them the same truth we know. A healing touch, a welcome smile, a helping hand. Remember Peter and John going up to the temple?

Acts 3: Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong

They and the church moved out in the “power of the Spirit. They didn’t worry about what they had, they just went and lived Jesus in front of everybody. Simple you say? Simplistic you criticize? Ask yourself, “Who do you know that would benefit from your personal attention today? Surely we are come into a fresh new season of the church.
