Psalm 122:1I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

With all the Covid 19 fear abroad today what has been seen, of course is a lot of confusion over how to “do” Church. A lot of the confusion comes from a deep misunderstanding of what the Sabbath is and why God has given this blessing to us. For many, especially clergy we have become enslaved by the traditions and forms we have been reared in and have lost the true thrust of God’s purpose. It is to rest. It is to reflect. It is to restore. It is to re-energize. Far too often our “observance” of the Sabbath is anything but.
I personally miss the social dynamic that has been shelved by the Covid fear. I also miss the dimension where, among peers “iron sharpens iron”. The inevitable result of which is a situation akin to the time of the Judges. Judges 17: 6 In those days there was no king in Israel; all the people did what was right in their own eyes.
Perhaps, the technology which we so depend on in every other way might help us here. Many local churches are broadcasting worship services, many are offering on-line Bible studies. I would encourage anyone feeling the loss of fellowship to avail themselves of these offerings. Another means is very Biblical in nature. Send a note. Make a phone call. Send a text message. Do not allow the devil to “cut you out of the flock” STAY CONNECTED.
