John 4: 25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”
How simple, how understated. Jesus declares himself to of all people a Samaritan woman who is of very little reputation in her own home town. And yet, there it is. In Greek Jesus says the very same, without equivocation. Ego eimi. I am HE.
So then we are come to a place in scripture where you, the reader must decide. Is this Jesus, as C.S. Lewis has asked: “Liar, Lunatic, or Lord?” (Mere Christianity Harper Collins)
Beyond all of the attestation of scripture, all the testimonies of the Church, you must decide for yourself. So, why the urgency? Verse 23 in the same passage says “the time is coming and now is…”. So I ask you why delay? The life of Christ is to you. Will you receive Him today?
