Job 12: 15 If he holds back the waters, there is drought;
if he lets them loose, they devastate the land.
16 To him belong strength and insight;
both deceived and deceiver are his.
17 He leads rulers away stripped
and makes fools of judges.

At this point in Job’s story he, pictured here as the man with sores all over his body, is getting fed up with his so called friends and their supposed wisdom. He declares here a principle which most Christians today fail to grasp. GOD IS SOVEREIGN1 That’s not just a catchy theological buzz phrase. It is a fact. He has made us he can destroy us. When we talk about bowing our heads in reverence it is not a posture suggestion. It is an act of submission we are literally offering our necks to the God of all the universe to do with us as He pleases.
Now, digesting all of that, consider the great love the Father has for us His creation that He would send His only son Jesus to pay the horrendous price for our sins. I am humbled in the extreme and must therefore offer my life to God in any way He chooses to use it.
Where is your heart today? Does it truly belong to God, no matter where you are, whether in good times or bad?
