Ruth 1:16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

I have learned over the years just how hard it can be for some folks to leave behind the traditions and places of a lifetime and embark on a journey of unknown destination to unknown circumstances. For Ruth she was abandoning a lifetime of familiarity, security, and family going to who knows what or where. Sometimes our journey to Jesus is very much like the journey which Ruth was about to undertake. What motivated her? Simply this-Love.
Now, think about the love of God for His creation in sending His very own son to be the sacrifice for our sins. Think for a moment about the unfathomable courage and obedience to the loving impulse of God that brought about our salvation in Jesus.
Contemplate for just a moment that out of all the people in the world Jesus has taken this moment to speak to your own heart. Are you listening?
