Proverbs 14:29 Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.
One of my favorite cartoons comes from the old comic strip “Ziggy”. In my particular favorite the hapless little guy is standing at the board on the shopping mall and is taking in the map to understand the layout of the place. As his eye lights upon the mark that says You are here, a voice comes over the mall intercom and says simply Don’t get used to it. How poignant and true. We cannot and must not stand still. While scripture admonishes us to be still before the Lord and to wait upon his good grace he never tells us to stop moving toward Him. Life is full of very real obstacles to faith, life, health, and happiness or contentment.
I am easily frustrated especially by things that do not perform as they are supposed to. Sometimes I even lose sleep trying to devise ways to make those things work. Usually all I accomplish is to sacrifice a night of sleep to my frustration and to be no nearer to a solution in the morning. Anger, I have been told, is a parasite emotion usually attaching itself to some sort of frustration. It may take a powerful moving of the Holy Spirit to bring you into line with this wise saying of Solomon.
