Hebrews 7: Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.

This pattern of Abrahamic devotion is one that all Christians would do well to consider. It would seem that God the Father has given this to posterity for the relationship that should exist between Jesus our high priest and all of his followers. This is an absolute. And while we are so quick to hone in on a particular “rule” to justify our petty and cruel behaviors we seem to be ready to ignore this very clear picture of the relationship built on love and awe for our Savior God.

Please pray today for a heart of repentance and seek forgiveness. Come to Jesus and bring him your love, your substance, and your future. We have so much. More even than we can manage. Bless Him by Blessing others beginning in your own family. Go out, * if you are accepted fine, continue in discipling, if you are rejected be willing to continue in prayer, but do not stop. Move on and allow the Holy Spirit to work. (* see Matthew 10. Especially verse 14)
