Matthew 6: 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Remember the song from the stage play Cabaret, Money makes the world go around? It certainly seems to have become a truism. As a means of exchange it has always been easier to deal in currency rather than commodities. The problem, as usual is not the gift or blessing of having money or even getting money. The problem is our heart,

When we make gods of ourselves and our ability to make money we are denying the God who has given us everything. We make the object the god. It becomes impossible to love and worship God when we are obsessed with the need to make ever increasing amounts of money. I Timothy 6: But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
