Matthew 5: 14 ‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

If one were to describe the various types of light that are the most effective for perceiving detail and understanding context I think the best terminology would be ambient light. That is, the type of light that pervades and permeates the atmosphere all around. It is the type of light that exists and is clear evidence of sunlight, even on a cloudy day. The metaphor is not strained here for that is exactly the type of light that we, as Christians are to reflect. When people are around you and I they should see in us the Jesus whom we adore.

Far too often we attempt to shed the light of ideology or doctrine, vis the current political insanity from the entire spectrum of socio-political thought. Rather, if we would be true to Jesus as reflectors of His perfect light we would be more concerned with sharing His love in the hardest way possible, that is forbearing with and praying for the spiritual enlightenment of the of the raging mobs of people who are lost in the utter darkness of the false hope generated by political and social ideology.

This Little Light Of Mine

This little light of mine

I’m gonna let it shine

This little light of mine

I’m gonna let it shine

This little light of mine

I’m gonna let it shine

Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Hide it under a bushel no

I’m gonna let it shine

Hide it under a bushel no

I’m gonna let it shine

Hide it under a bushel no

I’m gonna let it shine

Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Don’t let Satan blow it out

I’m gonna let it shine

Don’t let Satan blow it out

I’m gonna let it shine

Don’t let Satan blow it out

I’m gonna let it shine

Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Let it shine till Jesus comes

I’m gonna let it shine

Let it shine till Jesus comes

I’m gonna let it shine

Let it shine till Jesus comes

I’m gonna let it shine

Let it shine let it shine let it shine
